Big Things Are Coming to Celina: Say Hello to Wilson Creek Park!

Celina, Texas is stepping up its game — big time! On September 3, city officials officially broke ground on what’s soon to be one of the coolest outdoor destinations in the area: Wilson Creek Park. And trust us, this isn’t just your average neighborhood park.

This 100-acre wonderland is being built right at the corner of the future Sunset Boulevard and Roseland Parkway (yes, even the street names sound dreamy). With a $50 million price tag, the city is going all-in to bring something special to the community — and we are so here for it.

🛠️ What’s Coming to Wilson Creek Park?

Think of it as an adventure playground for everyone — kids, adults, athletes, weekend warriors, and even disc golf fanatics. Here’s just a taste of what you’ll find once it’s all done:

  • ⚾ Ball fields for baseball and more
  • 🏓 Pickleball courts (because who isn’t into pickleball these days?)
  • 🥾 Soft-surface and concrete walking trails
  • 🛝 Multiple playgrounds
  • 🏕️ A beautiful pavilion for events, picnics, or just lounging
  • 🥏 A nine-hole disc golf course
  • 🌳 Plenty of open green space to roam, play, or relax

The park will be built in phases, and Phase 1 kicks off in winter 2025! This first chunk will cover 30 acres, cost about $11.87 million, and is expected to be wrapped up by fall 2026.

🧱 Meet the Builders

The park dream is becoming a reality thanks to Dunaway and Dean Construction, two companies tasked with making Wilson Creek Park something truly spectacular.

“This project has been years in the making,” said Mayor Ryan Tubbs at the groundbreaking ceremony. “Today, we officially take the first step toward creating a space that will serve as a cornerstone for recreation, connection and community for generations to come.”

We love to see it. 👏

🏘️ Part of a Bigger Picture

Wilson Creek Park isn’t popping up in isolation. It’s a major piece of the Parks at Wilson Creek, a 720-acre master-planned community that’s shaping up to be a game-changer for Celina.

Back in May, Celina City Council approved the construction of 49 new homes in the development. So, not only will there be an incredible new park, but a whole neighborhood of folks who get to call it their backyard. Lucky them!

🎈 Why It Matters

This isn’t just about adding another park — it’s about building a community hub. A place where kids can learn to ride their bikes, friends can meet for a trail walk, families can host birthdays under the pavilion, and neighbors can come together to enjoy the great outdoors.

Celina’s future is looking bright, fun, and full of life — and Wilson Creek Park is just the beginning.

So mark your calendars, Celina — adventure is on its way! 🌞
